According to reports, a Ford car from Accra en route to Takoradi collided with a tipper truck vehicle filled with quarry stones after the truck made an erroneous passing maneuver.

The incident occurred on March 22, 2022.

According to the report, officials from the Ghana Fire Service and the ambulance service from the Western and Central regions were fast to arrive, flooding the site to contain the fire outbreak caused by the accident, transporting wounded, and controlling road traffic.

However, the exact number of people that died cannot be determined, although there were no survivors from the Ford, and at least 18 people were confirmed deceased.

The Ford 15's occupants, including a two-year-old toddler, were burned beyond recognition.

According to an eyewitness who told Accra-based Asempa FM about the event, the tipper truck driver was driving recklessly and at high speeds, which caused the Ford to catch fire quickly after the impact.
"The tipper truck driver was driving at high speeds and there were curves on the road, so he crashed with the bus and killed 16 people, including a two-year-old child, by burning them to death. The tipper truck driver and his companion were also burned in the truck "He stated.
