Google has just announced a major reason to stop using WhatsApp.

Switching to Google's Messages may be a better option for those who want a more feature-rich way to send messages to friends and family. 

The US tech giant has just revealed a major makeover of this Android service, and what's coming soon will make WhatsApp appear to be stuck in the past.

The update, which will be available on smartphones in the coming weeks, includes new options to organize chats, such as automatically separating professional and personal communications, similar to how many people handle their email inbox. 

You'll be able to swiftly move between chats from your friends and those from the office thanks to tabs at the top of the app.

To assist avoid additional and unwanted clutter, Google is now allowing fans to create one-time password messages that will be immediately erased after 24 hours.

With reactions like thumps up now working effortlessly across two rival platforms, Android owners will soon find it much easier to send texts to pals who possess an iPhone.

 Reactions, which first debuted on iOS, provide a much faster and more involved way to answer in chats, and it's fantastic to see that the technology is now available on both Apple and Android devices.

Along with the response update, Google also announced that videos shared between Android and iPhone users will not be compressed.

Google went on to say more about this feature: "People with Android devices can now exchange attractive, high-quality photographs and videos using the RCS standard. However, without RCS, they will appear blurry when shared with your iPhone buddies. 

Since we've integrated Google Photos into Messages, everyone can now see your movies in the same resolution as you. Within the discussion, you may submit your movies as Google Photos links, keeping their clarity."

Google's ability to give a mild nudge when it's time to send a message is another feature that's guaranteed to excite users. 

This includes situations such as when someone's birthday is approaching or when a message is received but not returned within a few days. At the top of the app, an alert will appear with the time the message was received and a quick option to respond.

Finally, Google has released a fantastic new update for anyone who enjoys sending emoticons, allowing users to build their own using mashups. This allows you to combine two emojis to create something much more personal.
