Thomas Partey: Ghana midfielder converts to Islam

The 28-year-old has now joined a long list of well-known sports figures who have converted to Islam.

Partey's conversion was announced in an Instagram post by the Muslim Athletes page: "Thomas Partey has converted to Islam today." Brother, Barak Allah."

Meanwhile, a source close to the midfielder verified to Pulse.com.gh that he had converted to Islam.
"He has converted to Islam, yes." It's true [Partey is now a Muslim], according to a source who spoke to Pulse.com.gh.

Partey has been one of Arsenal's standout performers in recent months as the Gunners strive to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Ghanaian has two goals and one assist for Mikel Arteta's side, which is now fourth in the Premier League.

Partey recently lauded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for making an immediate impact after joining Barcelona.

He hailed Aubameyang as a wonderful person and expressed happiness that the striker is scoring goals for the Spanish club.

Arsenal boss Arteta punished Aubameyang in December for a disciplinary infraction after he allegedly stayed an additional day after visiting his mother in France.

He was eventually stripped of the club's captaincy and barred from playing in the first team before joining Barcelona on a free transfer in January.

Since arriving at La Liga, the Gabonese striker has been in imperious form, scoring seven goals in as many starts for the Blaugrana.

"When you're given the opportunity to be a boss, you have to make decisions like a leader," Partey said in an interview with Sky Sports.

"Every decision he's made because he was given the opportunity to do so." We must comprehend and
accept because we must accept how he wishes to play. We're looking into it."

"For us, we have to accept whatever decision he takes, even if we don't want it," he added. It is his and the club's decision.

"I always watch the majority of Barcelona and Atletico [Madrid] games." I am overjoyed for him. We know he's a nice person, a good player, and a capable scorer. I'm glad for him in Barcelona since he's doing an excellent job there. I believe he will be watching us and glad for us."

Partey is in his second year at Arsenal after he joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020.
