Dispute

According to the police, there is a land dispute between two families, Abdul Raman Yunusah on one side and the deceased on the other.

The police commander refuted earlier media claims that Stephen Mane was murdered by a stray bullet while going to a gas station to get gas.

Facts

According to DCOP Ndekugri, there is a block of land in Wa near the Shell filling station that is disputed by Abdul Raman Inusah and his family on one side and Mane on the other. He stated that they are both descended from the same extended family.

According to the police commander, preliminary evidence received indicates that Yunusah sent his workers to the site, and the elders requested that he withdraw from the field so that they could first resolve a dispute.

He stated that the family planned to meet on Wednesday (March 16, 2022) to settle the dispute "However, there was a funeral in the house yesterday [Wednesday], and they were unable to sit down to arbitrate. So Inusah dispatched his employees [again] to the site today."

According to DCOP Ndekugri, they proceeded to sack the workers, and the workers called Inusah on the phone to alert him of the incident, adding that a mob of approximately 50 people had forced them off the land.

"And so he [Yunusah] picked up his [Toyota] Tundra pick-up, [GE 650 - 13] drove to the place, and he had his gun inside... according to him, when he got there, and the group saw him, they turned to attack him, so he rushed into his car while running his money fell and somebody took it according to him, I was not there, he picked the gun out [of the car], and according to him

The police commander stated that when they learned of the event, they dispatched SWAT to the scene to try to normalize the situation, but when they arrived, he [Inusah] had fired and scared the people away.

So the police promptly apprehended him and took him to the police station before going to pick up the casualty at the regional hospital, where Stephen Mane, the retired lecturer, was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
